  • How long does a fence installation take?

The duration of a fence installation can vary depending on several factors. However, for most residential projects, we typically complete the installation within one to two days. It's worth noting that a well-constructed fence can last approximately 20 years, making the brief installation period a worthwhile investment for long-term benefits.
  • Do you come to the property before providing an estimate?

Yes, we always conduct an on-site visit before providing an estimate. This allows us to assess the terrain and identify any potential challenges that might affect our standard installation procedures. Additionally, it gives us an opportunity to meet with you in person and ensure we fully understand your requirements and expectations.
  • How fast can we expect to meet for an estimate/consultation?

We strive to accommodate our clients promptly. In most instances, we can arrange a meeting within the same week of your initial contact, or at the latest, within five business days. Our goal is to begin the consultation process as quickly as possible to meet your fencing needs.
  • How long is the project turnaround completion?

The project turnaround time can fluctuate based on various elements, including material availability and weather conditions. On average, you can expect the process to take between three to five weeks from the initial consultation to project completion. We always aim to provide accurate timelines based on your specific project requirements.
  • Do I need a survey prior to my fence installation?

We strongly advise having a survey conducted or at minimum, a corner locate completed before fence installation. Understanding your property boundaries is crucial to ensure your fence is installed entirely within your property lines. If a survey isn't available, we can utilize plot maps and attempt to locate your corner pins. However, it's important to note that you're responsible for providing the necessary information, such as plot maps or surveys, to help us accurately identify property corners.
  • Do you contact 811 for locating underground utilities?

Yes, we always contact 811 prior to your installation date. They will mark the locations of power, water, natural gas, and internet/cable lines on your property. However, please be aware that 811 does not locate irrigation lines, low voltage outdoor lighting, or propane lines running from tanks. These will need to be identified separately if present on your property.
  • Do I need a permit to have a fence installed?

In many jurisdictions, a permit is required for fence installation. We recommend contacting your local government to determine if permitting is necessary for your specific project. Should you need assistance with obtaining any required permits, our team is more than willing to help guide you through the process.
  • Are your fence posts set in concrete?

Yes, we set all our fence posts in concrete to ensure stability and longevity. Our standard practice involves digging post holes approximately two feet deep and eight to ten inches in diameter. We use a minimum of 50 pounds of concrete for each post, providing a solid foundation for your fence.
  • Does your work include a warranty?

We offer a comprehensive warranty package. All materials used are covered by their respective manufacturers' warranties. Additionally, Sears Fence LLC provides a 1-year craftsmanship warranty on the installation. This warranty specifically covers installation errors. Please note that natural aging processes and exposure to elements can affect the appearance and dimensions of fence materials, and these changes are not covered under the craftsmanship warranty.
  • Should I stain or paint my wood fence?

We recommend staining or applying a combination of stain and sealant to your newly constructed wooden fence. Painting is not advised as it doesn't penetrate the wood effectively. If you choose to stain or seal, we suggest waiting approximately three months after installation. This allows the pressure-treated wood sufficient time to complete its drying process, ensuring optimal absorption of the stain or sealant.
